What We Collect
Email address — only when you voluntarily enter it to download the planner. We do not collect names, phone numbers, physical addresses, or any other personal information.
Interactive planner data — your task progress is saved in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device. We cannot see it, access it, or retrieve it.
How We Use Your Email
We send two types of email:
- Transactional — PDF delivery, purchase confirmations, a brief onboarding series (3 emails over 10 days after purchase), subscription changes, and account verification. These are essential to the service you requested.
- Marketing — occasional Dottie updates and tips. You can unsubscribe from these at any time without affecting your account or subscription.
We never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your data under the following lawful bases:
- Consent — when you provide your email to download the planner or subscribe to updates
- Contract performance — when you purchase a subscription, we process your email and payment data to fulfill the service
- Legitimate interest — sending transactional emails directly related to your account (purchase confirmations, subscription changes)
Third-Party Services
- Stripe — payment processing. When you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment information (card number, billing address). We do not store your payment details. Their privacy policy.
- Resend — email delivery. Their privacy policy.
- Plausible Analytics — privacy-first website analytics. No cookies, no personal data collected. Their data policy.
- Google Analytics — website analytics for understanding how visitors find and use Dottie. Uses cookies to distinguish users. We do not use advertising features or share data with Google for ad purposes. Their privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Vercel — website hosting. Their privacy policy.
- Amazon Associates — affiliate links. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon's privacy policy applies.
Cookies
Dottie uses Plausible Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not track individuals across sites.
We also use Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies (e.g., _ga, _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors and understand how people find and use the site. These cookies do not contain personal information. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Data Retention
- Email addresses (mailing list) — retained until you unsubscribe. Removed within 48 hours of unsubscription.
- Subscription data — retained by Stripe for the duration of your subscription plus 7 years for tax/legal compliance, per Stripe's retention policy.
- Browser localStorage — stored on your device only. Persists until you clear your browser data or use the "Start fresh" option in the planner.
- Server logs — anonymized (no email or IP addresses stored). Retained for 30 days for debugging, then deleted.
Your Rights
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from emails at any time (link in every email)
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest

If you are in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children's Privacy
Dottie is designed for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via email to subscribers.
